The new buildings for the German headquarters of Makita, the Japanese toolmakers, were developed by Takenaka, the internationally acclaimed general contractor, and were completed after 14 months of planning and construction with a floor space of about 45,000 m² in Ratingen-Lintorf’s Commercial Park. At the beginning of 2011, the 185 employees moved into the two-storey administration building, with its annexed workshop section and the logistics centre, which alone comprises approximately 17,000 m².

Makita's management entrusted Beck’s, an Essen interior design contracting company, with the complete planning of the furnishing for the 12,000 m² office floor space where, besides the generously-proportioned, light-flooded reception area, various one-person workstations, team and project offices, and also different meeting and training rooms are to be found. For Makita's new head office, the Beck's team developed a consistently standardised, clear interior design concept which has a calming effect on the viewer and makes allowance for the Japanese philosophy of space, but simultaneously optimises the work processes within the company.

For the Makita building's interior furnishing, WINI supplied the conference arrangements from its WINEA CONFERENCE range, plus 124 desks from the WINEA PRO range– as well as different cabinet variants from the WINEA KUBUS collection, pedestals and mobile cabinet units, all of which guarantee enduring, convertible and long-lasting furnishing, and forward-looking facility management  as a result.
